We are the body of Christ. Our vision is to be a mission shaped community that loves God completely, ourselves correctly and our neighbours compassionately.
Established in 1925, First Pentecostal Church is part of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador and therefore adheres to its beliefs.
Our church is led by a team of dedicated pastors and lay leaders who are committed to serving our congregation and community by showing God's love.
The vision of FPC is birthed out of the very heart of Jesus. First, the Great Commission: "18 Then jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20).
Second, the Great Commandment: "37 Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:37-40).
In FPC's vision, "Multi-ethnic, Multi-generational, mission-shaped community" is from the Great Commission and "Love God completely (Upward), Love ourselves correctly (Inward), and our neighbors compassionately (Outward)" is from the Great Commandment.
You have so much to offer! You're invited to use your gifts and abilities to make a difference and advance God's mission. Together, we are serving the local community in different ways.
We value God: His Word, His Creation, His redemptive purposes in His son, his presence through the Holy Spirit and the imminent return of Christ.
We value "the lost" to whom we owe the compassion of Christ, an opportunity
to receive the gospel, and entrance into Christian fellowship.
We value believers, their commitment to personal discipleship, their baptism
in the Holy Spirit, their Christian family life, and their Christ-like example and witness.
We value the local assembly marked by sound doctrine, anointed proclamation, fervent prayer, divine healing, Spirit-led worship, authentic relationships, every-member ministry, Holy Spirit-empowered evangelism and practical expression of Christian faith in the world.
We value a cooperative fellowship that enhances the church's ability to fulfill its missional mandate, through servant leadership, a shared vision, positive communication, relevant ministry and strategic mobilization of its resources.

Pastor Larry and Grace Soper joined the FPC family in August 2013. They have been married for 23 years and have two grown children, Shandi and Justin, and three grandchildren, Isaiah, Aliah and Ariyah.
Pastor Larry treasures his Lord and his family and enjoys worship, teaching, preaching, singing, playing instruments, administration and meeting people. His motto is "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).
His hobbies include reading books and conducting in-depth research on theology and its applications. He also enjoys hockey and is a huge fan. He hopes this is not a deterrent (haha), but he is a huge Habs fan (Montreal Canadiens).
His heart is to see God's people "Equipped for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Ephesians 4:12), "Making disciples" (Matthew 28:19), and demonstrating "love" (Upwardly) toward God, (Inwardly) toward one another, and (Outwardly) toward our neighbour in a community filled up to overflowing in the power of the Spirit.

The first Pentecostal Church had its beginning in the upper auditorium of a large frame building on Humber Road in Humbermouth (Corner Brook East). The first meeting in this building was held on September 6, 1925. This building known as the "ARK," marked the founding of the first Pentecostal Church, Corner Brook
In 1934, construction of a church building was started on Humber Road not far from the Ark. The first meeting was conducted in the new church on Christmas Day, 1937 when the church was officially opened and dedicated. The sign erected across the front of the building read: "Full Gospel Assembly."
In 1959 the congregation decided it was time to sell this building and purchase land on Premier Drive, Corner Brook, on which to erect a new and larger facility. On November 19, 1961 the congregation met for worship in a new building on that location. In 1975, the Assembly's year of jubilee, an extensive expansion program was launched to provide a larger worship auditorium, additional Sunday School rooms and youth facilities. This building serves the congregation today. First Pentecostal Church is the mother Pentecostal assembly of the West Coast of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador.
